Our Story

Thirty years of seva, one family's vow

A registered samiti serving Lord Shiva's kanwariyas in Mahipalpur, New Delhi — since the early 1990s.

Where it began

From a roadside water stand to a sewa shivir

It began in the early 1990s, when the Kanwar Yatra was still a small pilgrimage. Our family set up a modest stand of water and shade on the NH-8 roadside at Mahipalpur — simply to help a few tired bhakts on their long walk home.

As the yatra grew into a gathering of millions, our stand grew with it — into a full sewa shivir with langar, shelter, medical aid and kanwar stands, welcoming thousands of Shiv bhakts every Sawan.

What guides us

Our values

Seva above all

Every bhakt is served as though they carry Bhole Nath himself. We ask nothing in return.

Purity & respect

Pure sattvic food, clean water, and deep respect for the kanwar and its sacred jal.

A family vow

The shivir passes from one generation of our family to the next — a promise, quietly kept.

A registered samiti

Recognised, and part of the city's Kanwar network

Shiv Kavar Samiti is a registered society. Each year the shivir is set up on DDA grounds with official permission for ten days, with the sanction of the Delhi administration and local police — part of the capital's official network of approved Kanwar camps, not an informal stall.
