It began quietly, in the years when the Kanwar Yatra was still a small pilgrimage. Our family set up a modest stand of water and shade on the NH-8 roadside at Mahipalpur — nothing more than a way to help a few tired bhakts on their walk.
Growing with the yatra
As the yatra swelled through the 1990s and 2000s into a gathering of millions, our small stand grew with it — into a full sewa shivir with langar, shelter, medical aid and kanwar stands, welcoming thousands of Shiv bhakts every Sawan.
A registered samiti
Today Shiv Kavar Samiti is a registered society, running its shivir each year with the sanction of the Delhi administration — part of the capital's official network of approved Kanwar camps.
सेवा परमो धर्मः — service is the highest dharma. The vow passes, quietly, from one generation of our family to the next.
The vow continues
Three decades on, the promise is unchanged: whatever a bhakt on the yatra needs, we hold it ready — freely, and with devotion. Come be part of it this Sawan.
